Aquatic Physical Therapy Program
In addition to traditional rehabilitative options, the Physical Therapy professionals also offer an important water-based therapy. It's called the Aquaciser - and it's an underwater treadmill that provides ambulation training in a safe and supportive environment. The open, step-in unit allows for easy use and maximizes patient comfort and accessibility.
Patients who are limited by pain, weakness, or weight-bearing restrictions in land-based therapy can develop their strength earlier in the rehabilitation process by taking advantage of the Aquaciser. Because the Aquaciser minimizes the strain of gravity on tender ligaments and damaged joints, patients can more easily - but just as affectively - rehabilitate.
As the patient progresses, the water level of temperature can be adjusted to ease the tranistion to a land-based program.
The Aquaciser is ideal for those limited by arthritic conditions, neurological disorders, spine, joint injuries, and decreased endurance.
Physical Therapy at the Sports Clinic
Berwick Hospital Center also offers physical therapy services at the Bloomsburg Sports and Rehabilitation Center – a spacious gym that provides a safe environment for athletes of all ages to demonstrate and train specifically for their sports needs.
From the golfer suffering from elbow pain to the soccer player returning from knee surgery, we have the expertise, equipment and knowledge to help athletes return to the sports they love.
Although BSRC is designed with athletes in mind, it also offers the same physical therapy services as those offered at the hospital site, with the exception of wound care and aquatic therapy.
