Cardiopulmonary Treatment Center
 
This is a diagnostic and therapeutic center that provides quality cardiac rehabilitation services and diagnostic testing to the community to bring the client to his/her optimal physical,mental,social,and vocational usefulness. The staff is committed to providing education and training to enable and equip the client and his/her significant other to make wise decisions regarding required lifestyle modifications and their future health.

Therapeutic Services:


Cardiac Rehabilitation

is a 6 to 12 week program of monitored exercise therapy,psychological support,education,and counseling for clients with cardiovascular disease.

Health Maintenance Program

is a group exercise program for graduates of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program and for people interested in developing or maintaining exercise conditioning and other healthful lifestyles.

Cardiac Caring and Sharing Club

is a support group for clients,family,or friends with heart disease. It meets every month on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00PM in the Berwick Hospital Conference rooms. Everyone is welcome.

Programs are offered to help clients stop smoking,lose weight,control high blood pressure,manage cholesterol,learn of their medications and deal with emotional stress. Individualized exercise prescriptions and plans of care are developed for each client.

Diagnostic Services:


Exercise Tolerance Testing (Stress Testing)

is a test administered in the physician's presence as the client exercises on a treadmill while the heart activity is monitored.

Nuclear Imaging Exercise Tolerance Test

is a stress test with the addition of an isotope injection and x-ray scanning which adds specificity to the test.

Adenosine/Nuclear Excerise Tolerance Testing

is a stress test where the medication, Adenosine ,is used to mimic the exercise response and is used in clients that are unabled to walk on a treadmill. The isotope injection and x-ray scanning are also done with this test.

24 Hour Ambulatory Monitor

is a portable monitor worn by the client that monitors heart activity continuously for 24 hours. This allows the client to maintain his/her lifestyle while assessing the problem.

Transtelephonic Pacemaker Monitoring

is a service for clients with permanent heart pacemakers to check pacemaker activity over the telephone.

Electrocardiogram (EKG)

is a graphic record that measures your heart's electrical activity and helps your doctor determine your heart's health.

Signal Averaged Electrocardiogram

is a specialized EKG that is done to recognize clients at high risk for sudden cardiac death due to heart irregularities.

Event Recording

monitors the patient for transient heart rhythm irregularities over a 30 day period.

Elecroencephalogram (EEG)

is a test monitoring electrical activity of the brain and nervous system done in an awake or sleep state.

Audiometric Screening

is a hearing test done to screen hearing levels for industry employees.

Tilt Table Testing

is a test designed to evaluate how your body regulates blood pressure in response to some very simple stresses.

Echocardiogram

is a test in which ultrasound is used to examine the heart.

Transesophageal Echo - TEE

is a dianostic procedure that involves taking a "picture" of the heart by placing a special probe into the food pipe and uses sound wave technology.

Excerise Stress Echo

is a stress test with the addition of pre- and post- treadmill echocardiograms.

Dobutamine Stress Echo

is a stress echo where Dobutamine medication is used to mimic the exercise response for clients who are unable to walk on a treadmill.
