The Berwick Retirement Village offers a full spectrum of rehabilitation to all its residents. There are two large spacious rehabilitation gyms that have huge, bright windows overlooking the courtyard and the village grounds. The areas of rehabilitation consist of the following:
- Physical Therapy for gait training, strengthening programs for the upper and lower extremities, endurance activities, stretching activities, balance activities and transfer training.
- Occupational Therapy for retraining in activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, dressing, kitchen activities, and bed mobility, while specializing also in hand therapy, cognitive retraining and the manufacturing of splints for the hand, wrist, and arm.
- Speech Therapy for swallowing, and speech/language retraining, while also providing treatment for dysphasia problems. In addition to these therapies, an excellent team of physicians, nurses, and physical therapists is available for their wound care management program.
All of these services include the resident's family and friends as a major part in the rehabilitation of their loved one as well as the referring physician, who is updated on every aspect during the resident's ongoing rehabilitation.
